Overview
Dretske Law Office, a locally focused and community‑oriented law practice, is seeking a highly organized and detail‑oriented Legal Assistant to support a broad range of legal and administrative functions. This role is ideal for someone who is professional, dependable, and comfortable working in a small, fast‑paced law office where accuracy, communication, and client service are essential. The Legal Assistant will work directly with Attorney Luke Dretske because he is operating a solo practice.

Key Responsibilities
Legal & Case Support

Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents, including wills, trusts, probate filings, real estate documents, ordinances/resolutions, contracts, and business formation documents.

Assist with Wisconsin CCAP e‑filing, document preparation, and court communications.

Conduct basic legal research and gather information from clients, municipalities, and state agencies.

Manage deadlines, notices, publications, and form submissions..
-
Prepare real estate closing documents, title work coordination, and filings with the Register of Deeds.

Client Service

Serve as a professional point of contact for clients, municipalities, and community partners.

Schedule meetings, maintain calendars, and track deadlines.

Assist clients with intake, follow‑ups, document collection, and status updates.

Administrative & Office Tasks
-
Maintain organized digital and physical client files.
-
Manage attorney calendar, correspondence, and office workflow.
-
Prepare invoices, track time entries, and assist with billing.
-
Handle mail, phones, email communications, and general office operations.

Qualifications
Required
-
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and reliability.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication.

Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.

Ability to implement new systems.

Preferred

Previous experience as a legal assistant or paralegal.

Familiarity with:

Real estate transactions

Local government documentation

Municipal Court Procedures

Experience with legal practice management platforms (e.g., Clio, MyCase, PracticePanther, etc.).

Associate degree, paralegal certificate, or related training (not essential—experience is valued).​
